Dear sirs,
For these long period of time, we heard Metro TV as a very well-known News TV Station that carries the values of democracy, human rights, and equality. We also heard that Metro TV is building images by campaigning on Restoration of Indonesia, a spirit to a New Indonesia – or even New World that is better, to which we undoubtedly give our appreciation.
However, we just heard that in contrary to your campaign to Democracy, human rights, justice, and equality, Metro TV has proven practising union busting and unfair acts against your employee, namely Luviana, a female Journalist, who has been released from her duty as an Asisstant to Producer in this national TV Station. According to the Metro Alliance (Fight Against Restoration Mask - An Alliance formed to fight for Luviana’s rights), the management of this TV Station has released Luviana, a female Journalist, who has been served for almost 10 years. Luviana has been released from her duty due to her activity to form a worker union in her workplace and to promote TV programs that respect human rights and gender equality in Metro TV.
Therefore, on behalf of freedom of press, spirit of democracy, human rights, and restoration toward better Indonesia and the World, we demand the management of Metro TV to:
1. immediately stop any practises of union busting in any forms and for any reasons to Luviana and her colleagues
2. give freedom to workers to form Worker Union as the most democratic right of the workers as guaranteed by the Law.
You might need to be reminded that when you build your image under the democracy, human rights, and restoration names, you should start it from your own HOME. Without that, every efforts on building images will be merely a big LIE. The eyes of International World will be the witnesses of how you have mistreated your workers’ rights, and our respect to you will be determined by your response to this petition.
Luviana is part of our community. Hurting her means hurting us!
